Never played golf before? What could go wrong!

“If you drink, don’t drive. Don’t even putt.”

Thankfully our charity game is better than our banter which was why on August 12th, 2016, Julio Acuna, Aaron Cunnington and I represented Antares as the major sponsor of TLC for Kids Annual Golf Day.

Coming from a big family, I have a soft spot for charities that help sick, or at risk kids and have donated to Starlight Foundation as well as anti-bullying initiatives. I’ve spent time at Fighting Father Dave’s boxing gym helping build the self-esteem of youth at risk. Needless to say, when I heard there was a charity event for sick kids I was quick to put up my hand.

TLC for Kids is an Australian non-for-profit dedicated to giving practical and emotional support to sick kids and their families across Australia. TLC for Kids is unique insofar as they work hard to catch the children who fall between the gaps within the system, helping families most in need.

Having never played golf before, I was apprehensive! Isn’t golf only popular because it’s the best game in the world to be bad at? Isn’t golf more fun than walking naked in a strange place, but not much? Aside from witty quips, my knowledge of the game was garnered from Happy Gilmore and CaddyShack. What else did I need to know? Quite a bit as it turns out!
